Mount Zion Thoughts

“But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to myriads of angels, to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, and to God, the Judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous made perfect, and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood, which speaks better than the blood of Abel.”Hebrews 12:22-24 NASB1995

Have you ever thought of how neat this verse is?

I love how it speaks about how you have come to the heavenly city of Zion the CITY of the living God. He’s living not dead! Love that! The heavenly Jerusalem! Which means city of peace. Oh how our world needs peace so bad. And to myriads of angels. Myriads means innumerable number or 10,000 angels. So cool we get to see our messengers that ministered to us when God sent them to help us the heirs of salvation. They will tell us what they were doing at our darkest times. Fighting off the enemy of our souls maybe? Fighting in heavenly wars against them. Or ministering to us by protecting us from something somewhere? Possibly?

And this verse goes on to say. To the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven. Did you know your enrolled in heaven? I like what psalm 87 says:

“And of Zion it will be said, “This one and that one were born in her; And the Most High Himself shall establish her.” The Lord will record, When He registers the peoples: “This one was born there.” Selah”

Psalms 87:5-6 NKJV

Selah! Think upon that!

It goes on to say: and to God, the Judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous made perfect, and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood, which speaks better than the blood of Abel.”

To God the judge of all. Yes he will judge those outside of his salvation. And those who are under it. And the righteous made perfect. And to the sprinkled blood. Wow just like exodus speaks about the priest having sprinkled the blood upon the altar and the people after his sacrifice of an animal. Then Jesus the ultimate sacrifice whom sprinkled us the great high priest he is whom went into the temple likened to the one in exodus given by God on Mount Sinai. Yet this is the heavenly temple. He came out after his sacrifice and sprinkled us with the blood after he did his sacrifice and made us right with God. And to the sprinkled blood, which speaks better than the blood of Abel.” Which speaks BETTER things than that of the blood of Abel? You remember the story. Cain became jealous of the sacrifice being acceptable to God by Abel. Then Cain killed him. And Abel’s blood spoke out from the ground it cried for justice I guess? But the sacrifice Abel made was by animal sacrifice. Jesus was complete for us. It speaks better best things for us.
